Lighting: Don’t Get Caught in the Dark

When the sun goes down in the SA Outback, it goes down hard. You don’t want to be fumbling around in the dark. A good headlamp is a must for hands-free work, whether you’re setting up camp or just need to find your way to the loo. A couple of lanterns for the campsite are also a good idea. Think about fuel sources – batteries, gas, or solar. And always carry spares. I’ve seen blokes try to navigate a campsite by the light of their phone, and it’s a recipe for disaster and broken ankles.
